London: The death toll in a stabbing incident at a children's dance class in Southport in northwest England rose to three after a nine-year-old girl died, British police said on Tuesday. Earlier, two girls aged six and seven died on the scene.

17-year-old accused arrested

Five others are battling for life. Meanwhile, Merseyside Police detectives arrested a 17-year-old suspect in the case and questioned him. Merseyside Police said that another girl who was injured in the knife attack early this morning has died.

Five children seriously injured 

Merseyside Police said eight other children were seriously injured, five of them in a serious condition, in the incident at a community centre in Hart Street. Two adults were also in a critical condition.

It is being told that at the time of the incident, these children aged between six to 11 years were participating in a summer holiday workshop based on the music of famous singer Taylor Swift.

Attack believed to be related to terrorism 

Police said the motive for the stabbing was not clear and the attack was not being treated as terrorism-related. Police confirmed officers were not looking for any other suspects."A 17-year-old Cardiff (Wales)-born man from Lancashire has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder and taken to police station where he will be questioned by officers," Merseyside Police Chief Constable Serena Kennedy said.Meanwhile, singer Taylor Swift said she was "completely shocked" to learn about the incident and was now processing the "horrific" incident.He wrote on Instagram, "These were young children in the dance class. I am completely confused as to how to convey my condolences to their families."
