Islamabad: Eight Afghan Taliban soldiers, including two key commanders, were killed in clashes with Pakistani security forces in the border region near Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Sixteen soldiers were also injured in a gunfight in Khurram border district over the weekend. The Afghan side attacked a Pakistani checkpost with heavy weapons in Palosin area on the Pak-Afghanistan border on Saturday morning.
Taliban is attacking openly
There has been no official statement on the incident from the Pakistani army's media wing Inter-Services Public Relations. This is not the first time that Afghan soldiers and Pakistani security forces have exchanged fire. Sources said that the Afghan Taliban, along with promoting terrorist activities inside Pakistan, are openly attacking forces on the international border.
Trade between the two countries is also suspended
Trade between the two countries remained suspended over the weekend due to the tense situation. There were reports of intermittent firing along the border on Sunday as well, but no casualties were reported. Meanwhile, an officer of the paramilitary Frontier Corps was killed and three others injured in a terror attack in Marghan, Kurram, Pakistan on Sunday.
