Kabul: The Taliban regime of Afghanistan has imposed new and strict restrictions on women in a new decree. According to the new order, women have been banned from speaking in public and showing their faces. This has further restricted the life of women in Afghanistan.

The Taliban's ministry on Wednesday implemented a new law on "the promotion of virtue and the prevention of vice." According to the Associated Press, the new rules for women affect many aspects of daily public life.

Supreme Leader Hibatullah Akhundzada supported the laws

On Thursday, ministry spokesman Maulvi Abdul Ghafar Farooq said, "InshaAllah, we assure you that this Islamic law will be very helpful in promoting virtue and eradicating vice." Earlier, Supreme Leader Hibatullah Akhundzada had supported the laws.

How women should behave

Article 13 of the new law details how women should dress and behave in public.

Women are required to cover their entire body including their face

Women are now required to cover their entire body, including their faces, in public places, so that they can avoid temptation and also do not put others into temptation. From now on, the hijab, which only covers the hair and neck without covering the face, will no longer be acceptable.

Prohibited from singing songs or reading aloud

Women are now prohibited from singing, reciting or reading aloud in public. Giving the reason behind this, the Taliban regime has said that women's voices are considered "intimate" and should not be heard. However, it is not clear whether speaking is also prohibited.

Women are not allowed to look at men

In addition, the new law states that women are not allowed to see men who are not related to them by blood or marriage. Violating these rules can result in a warning, confiscation of property or detention for up to three days. The ministry is already enforcing similar morality standards and is reported to have detained thousands of people for violations.
