Dhaka: Chaos erupted in neighboring Bangladesh on Monday. Tens of thousands of students overcame all obstacles and took over the capital Dhaka and indulged in massive vandalism and arson. Seeing the situation going out of control, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned from her post in the afternoon and left for India with her sister Rehana. First she went to Agartala, the capital of Tripura, by a cargo plane of the Bangladesh Air Force and from there she reached the Air Force's Hindon Airbase near Delhi at 5:36 pm.

Looting and arson in PM's residence

Meanwhile, in Dhaka, the Prime Minister's residence Ganabhaban was taken over by unruly students and they looted and set it on fire. The residences of the Home Minister and some other ministers were also vandalised and set on fire. Bangabandhu Memorial Museum, Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre and the office of Hasina's party Awami League were vandalised and set on fire.

Attacks on Hindu temples too

The statue of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujiburahman in Dhaka has been vandalised and Hindus and four temples have been attacked. On Sunday, there was chaos, vandalism and arson in Dhaka and other cities throughout the day demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Hasina. By late night, 101 people were killed and hundreds were injured in these incidents.

Despite the nationwide curfew, the chaos escalated on Monday, with the call of Long March to Dhaka, tens of thousands of students from nearby cities reached the capital Dhaka and started attacking government buildings. 56 people lost their lives

56 people were killed in the country in Monday's incidents. The army also came out on the streets of Dhaka to control the situation but it could not stop the advancing students. After this, Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman asked Hasina to resign from the post of Prime Minister and advised her to leave the country. After this, 76-year-old Sheikh Hasina, who became Prime Minister for the third consecutive time this year, resigned and left Bangladesh a few minutes later.

 

An interim government will be formed

After this, General Waqar-uz-Zaman announced the resignation of the Prime Minister on government television and announced to take all the responsibility himself. He appealed to the people to maintain peace. General Zaman has assured the formation of an interim government soon. As soon as the news of Hasina's resignation became public, protesters in Dhaka and many cities of the country started celebrating.

 

Anti-government fire sparked violence

The series of violence in Bangladesh started with an anti-reservation movement in July, in which more than 200 people were killed. The movement subsided after the Supreme Court de-reserved 93 percent of the seats, but the anti-government fire continued to smolder, after a few days it flared up with the demand for the resignation of the government and on Sunday, more than 100 people died in a single day of violence.

The result of the anti-government conspiracy was that Sheikh Hasina had to leave the post and the country within just 36 hours. It is said that the students also had the support of opposition parties in this violence and uproar.

 

Order for the release of Khaleda Zia

Bangladesh President Muhammad Shahabuddin has ordered the release of opposition leader and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia. She will probably be released from jail on Tuesday. Khaleda has appealed for peace in the country from the jail itself.

 

America said- government should be formed democratically

On the current situation in Bangladesh, America has expressed the need for establishing peace there. It has also stressed the need for the formation of a democratically elected government with the participation of all in the country soon.
