Washington DC:India's power at sea is set to grow further as the US has approved a possible Foreign Military Sale of anti-submarine warfare sonobuoys and related equipment to India. The deal, estimated to cost $52.8 million, was approved by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency said in a press release that Congress has been informed about this potential sale today. It is noteworthy that the Defense Security Cooperation Agency is an agency under the US Department of Defense.

"The Indian government has requested the purchase of AN/SSQ-53G High Altitude Anti-Submarine Warfare Sonobuoy; AN/SSQ-62F HAASW Sonobuoy; AN/SSQ-36 Sonobuoy, technical and publication and data documentation, U.S. government and contractor engineering and technical support, logistics and program services and other related elements of support. The estimated total cost is US$52.8 million," the agency said.
