News Topical, Digital Desk : Pakistan remains firm on its decision not to play India in the T20 World Cup. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif himself has now confirmed this decision. He has clearly stated that Pakistan will not take the field against India. He also stated that there should be no politics in sports.

Significantly, this decision was made at a time when the situation had become increasingly tense following the ICC's (International Cricket Council) action against the Bangladesh cricket team. Following this, Pakistan decided not to play the match against India.

What did Shahbaz Sharif say?

Shahbaz Sharif said in Islamabad, "We have taken a clear stand regarding the T20 World Cup: we will not play against India." He called it the right decision and said that this step was taken after careful consideration. Sharif said, "There should be no politics in sports." Pakistan Cricket Board may be in big trouble

PTI Bhasha, citing sources, reported that the ICC has warned the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that it could face legal action from the tournament's official broadcaster, Geostar. Pakistan, on the instructions of its government, has decided to boycott the match against India in Colombo on February 15th, but has not yet formally informed the ICC of the reasons for this decision.

The decision was taken after consulting experts.

A PCB source told the agency that board chairman Mohsin Naqvi consulted with the board's legal experts before briefing Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on the issue last week. Despite this, the board is now bracing for serious consequences.

A PCB source told PTI, "If Pakistan persists in not playing against India, it could face a heavy financial penalty and a lawsuit from broadcasters. Furthermore, attempts to approach the ICC Dispute Resolution Committee (DRC) may also fail." The source also pointed out that the ICC DRC is an internal committee that does not hear appeals against the ICC Board's own decisions.

Can Mohsin Naqvi change the decision?

According to the agency, many people believe that Pakistan's Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi may change his decision after the general elections are held in Bangladesh on February 12 and a democratic government is formed in place of the current Mohammad Yunus government.

A source said, "Naqvi is more of a politician than a cricket administrator and isn't particularly concerned about the national team's interests. He's trying to gain political advantage and could make a U-turn after the elections." The source added, "There are two days left before the match against India, and the situation could change. Otherwise, he knows Pakistan could be isolated internationally."
