News Topical, Digital Desk : After a dramatic rift with US President Donald Trump, tech giant Elon Musk has decided to enter the political arena. Musk, who openly supported Trump in the last presidential election, has now announced the formation of a new political party to take on him directly.

Musk said that he has formed a new political party to give Americans their freedom back. He announced his plans on his internet media platform X and said that he has founded the 'America Party' to challenge the two-party system in the country.

What did Musk say on the X post?

Musk posted, The America Party was formed today to give you your freedom back. When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste and corruption, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy. The CEO of Tesla and SpaceX said in another post - We have tried both parties.

America is ready for something that really works. America Party is now the voice of the middle. The silent majority is no longer silent. This is the moment when everything changes. America Party is here now. It is the answer to a system that has stopped listening.

Where will Musk's party be registered?

Musk has not said where his party will be registered. To legally form a party, it will have to register with the Federal Election Commission. CNN has said that there is no such indication in the recent filing of the Election Commission. Musk first raised the possibility of forming a party during a public fight with Trump. Due to this, he had to leave his role in the administration's Government Efficiency Department and get involved in a public dispute with the President.

Claim to correct the shortcomings of both the parties

According to Musk, the goal of the America Party will be to become a fiscally conservative force focused on reducing government waste. On X, he shared a survey with his supporters in which 65 percent of the 12.50 lakh people said "yes" to the formation of the party. Musk claimed that his party would correct the shortcomings of both the Democrats and the Republicans.

Emphasis on fulfilling the true will of the people Although Musk did not immediately provide details about the US Party's legal structure or leadership, he outlined a preliminary strategy. One way to execute this, he wrote, would be to focus on just two or three Senate seats and eight to 10 House districts. Given the very small legislative margin, this would be enough to serve as the deciding vote on controversial laws, ensuring that they fulfill the true will of the people.

Tension between Musk and Trump increased again

Musk's criticism of the Big Beautiful Bill rekindled tensions with Trump, which had cooled down over the past few days. The controversy resumed as the bill's approval drew closer. Musk had warned that he would fund primary challenges against every lawmaker who supported the bill. To this, Trump said that without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close his shop and move to South Africa. The president also said that we might have to put Doge on Elon. Doge is a monster that can go back and eat Elon. Wouldn't that be terrible?

Is a third party viable in the US?

According to CNN, despite Musk's announcement, experts say it is very difficult to form a strong third party in the US. According to the law, a new party is not required to register with the Federal Election Commission until it starts raising or spending money on federal elections.

So far, no such record exists in the case of the US Party. Attempts to form a third party in the past have had difficulty gaining support. A famous example of this was the 1992 presidential election. Billionaire Ross Perot received nearly 19 percent of the popular vote, but no electoral college votes.
