News Topical,Digital Desk : Vicky Kaushal's film 'Chhaava Collection' created a stir at the box office in 2025 and became the highest grossing film of the year. Directed by Laxman Utekar, the film not only did great business after its release, but also instilled a sense of pride in the audience of Maharashtra. Based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the film made a record-breaking collection. Now actor-director Mahesh Manjrekar has also given his reaction on this historic success.

Recently, in an interview with Mirchi Marathi, Mahesh Manjrekar gave his frank opinion on the success of 'Chhava'. He said that the credit for the success of this film goes not to Vicky Kaushal, but to the character of Sambhaji Maharaj.

This character attracted more viewers

"Vicky Kaushal is a great actor. 'Chhava' has earned Rs 800 crore, but Vicky cannot claim that the audience came to see him. If that were the case, his previous films would have also performed similarly. The audience came to see Sambhaji Maharaj with devotion," Manjrekar said in Marathi.

The film became a hit because of Maharashtra

Mahesh Manjrekar further said, “My Maharashtra has saved the Hindi film industry. 80 per cent credit for the success of 'Chhava' goes to Maharashtra and 90 per cent to Pune and its surrounding areas. The people of Maharashtra have taken the film to historic heights.”

According to trade site Saknilk, which keeps box office data, Vicky Kaushal's 'Chhava' earned more than 600 crores in India and a total of 807.6 crores worldwide. This is the first film of this year to earn such a huge amount.
