In this sequence, the Vigilance Department raided the residence of Baikuntha Nath Sarangi, Chief Engineer of RW Department. During this raid, cash worth ₹ 2.1 crore has been recovered so far. The search is still going on. The Vigilance team simultaneously raided 7 places including Bhubaneswar, Angul and Pipili in Odisha. This action was taken under the allegations of corruption and possessing disproportionate assets. 8 DSPs, 12 inspectors, 6 ASIs and other officers were involved in the raid.

Let us tell you that during the raid, on one hand, ₹ 1 crore cash was recovered from the flat located in PDN Exotica Apartment in Bhubaneswar. On the other hand, ₹ 1.1 crore cash has been seized so far from his two-storey house located in Angul. So much cash has been recovered here that machines have been ordered to count it and the counting of notes is still going on. Not only this, during this raid, Baikunth Nath Sarangi, who was present in the flat in Bhubaneswar, threw bundles of ₹ 500 notes out of the window on seeing the vigilance team coming. His purpose was to hide the illegal cash, but the vigilance team immediately seized the notes in the presence of witnesses.

According to the Vigilance Department, this investigation is being conducted in the case of Sarangi acquiring assets disproportionate to his income. The officials are now also investigating his bank accounts, investments, properties and other financial sources. It is believed that more big revelations may happen in the future.
