Why did Vinod Khanna want to go to Pakistan?

Vinod Khanna was known for his tall, well-built and handsome hunk. Having begun his acting career as a villain, he also reigned supreme as a hero on screen for a long time. He had the tag of a superstar and plenty of fame. Yet, he always harbored a deep desire: when would he get the chance to visit Pakistan? 

Vinod Khanna was born on October 6, 1946, in Peshawar, Pakistan. However, his family remained in India after Partition. This forced Vinod Khanna to leave his ancestral home forever. During a special meeting with Shakeel Wahidullah, General Secretary of the Cultural Heritage Council of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, in 2014, Vinod Khanna spoke openly about this desire.

The actor had said that he wanted to visit Pakistan and see his ancestral home. However, this last wish of Vinod Khanna remained unfulfilled forever. Not only Vinod Khanna, but many Bollywood superstars like Manoj Kumar, Dev Anand, and Dilip Kumar also had Pakistani roots.
