News Topical, Digital Desk : In Hinduism, no auspicious work is complete without worshipping Lord Ganesha. He is considered the god of wisdom, prosperity, and good fortune. Vinayak Chaturthi is celebrated on the fourth day of the bright fortnight of every month. According to scriptures, fasting and worshipping on this day fulfills all one's desires. However, the full benefits of this fast are achieved only when the story is recited according to the prescribed rituals, which are as follows:
Vinayaka Chaturthi fasting story (Vinayaka Chaturthi 2026 Katha)
Once, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati were sitting on the banks of the Narmada River. Goddess Parvati urged Shiva to play Chaupar. Shiva agreed, but the problem was who would decide the winner? Then, Shiva collected some blades of grass and created an idol. After infusing it with life, he stood before it as a witness. The game began, and Goddess Parvati won three times in a row. When the boy was asked to decide the winner, he mistakenly declared Mahadev the winner.
This enraged Goddess Parvati, who cursed the boy to become lame and lie in the mud. The boy apologized, saying he had done it unknowingly. Hearing this, Goddess Parvati forgave him and said, "In a short time, the Nagakanyas will come here to worship Ganesha. Under their guidance, observe the Ganesh Vrat , which will relieve you of your suffering."
The boy, as instructed by the Nagakanyas, fasted and worshipped Lord Ganesha for 21 days. Pleased with his devotion, Lord Ganesha appeared and freed the boy from the curse. Later, due to the effect of this fast, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati reunited, and Kartikeya's anger was also calmed.
