CM Yogi Highlights UP's Transformation as Women Police Strength Surges to 44,000

Commemorating the second day of Sharadiya Navratri with the worship of Goddess Brahmacharini, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath addressed the state, drawing inspiration from the deity’s divine message of resolute penance and willpower to illustrate how persistent determination can achieve seemingly insurmountable goals. Reflecting on the state's governance journey on the social media platform X, the Chief Minister contrasted the law-and-order landscape before and after 2017, declaring that Uttar Pradesh—once shadowed by grave concerns regarding women's safety—has emerged as a national benchmark for female security and empowerment. Over the past nine and a half years, an uncompromising policy of zero tolerance toward crime and criminals, backed by technology-driven surveillance grids, rapid police response protocols, and extensive civic awareness drives, has established a fear-free living environment for women across every district.

Comprehensive Security Framework: Mission Shakti and Mahila Beat Policing

The state’s multi-layered defense mechanism has been anchored by institutional reforms that combine administrative reach with local community vigilance. Chief Minister Yogi noted that the progressive rollout of five phases of Mission Shakti, alongside the state-wide Safe City Project, dedicated Mission Shakti Kendras, and grassroots Mahila Beat Policing, has constructed a formidable institutional safety net. These integrated initiatives have decentralized grievance redressal, ensuring that women from urban hubs to rural outposts have direct access to legal aid, safety infrastructure, and emergency response teams around the clock.

Female Police Force Quadruples to 44,000 with Dedicated Women PAC Battalions

A major cornerstone of this systemic turnaround is the dramatic expansion of female representation within law enforcement ranks. Backed by a dedicated 20 percent reservation policy, the female police workforce in Uttar Pradesh has escalated from just 10,000 prior to 2017 to over 44,000 personnel today. Further fortifying this specialized security apparatus, the government has established three dedicated women Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) battalions named in honor of historic warrior heroines: Veerangna Uda Devi Pasi battalion in Lucknow, Veerangna Jhalkari Bai Kori battalion in Gorakhpur, and Veerangna Avantibai Lodhi battalion in Badaun. Emphasizing that the double-engine government remains committed to round-the-clock reforms, the Chief Minister affirmed that the state is actively turning the foundational vision of "Empowered Women-Prosperous Uttar Pradesh" into a permanent reality.
