CM Yogi Dedicates Purvanchal's First 6-Lane Flyover in Gorakhpur, Launches Projects Worth ₹995 Crore
Marking a major transformation in regional transit, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath officially dedicated Purvanchal's first six-lane flyover to the public in Gorakhpur on Thursday. Traversing the newly constructed corridor between Transport Nagar and the Deoria bypass stage, the Chief Minister launched four key development projects valued at ₹813.52 crore and laid foundation stones for ten upcoming initiatives worth ₹181.77 crore. Spanning 2.6 kilometers along the crucial Transportnagar-Padleganj road, the ₹429.49 crore six-lane flyover significantly streamlines travel routes connecting Gorakhpur with major urban centers like Ayodhya, Lucknow, Varanasi, Prayagraj, and neighboring international routes toward Nepal.
Major Urban Road Upgrades and Public Safety Enhancements
Alongside the flagship flyover, the Chief Minister inaugurated the ₹277.78 crore road widening project converting the busy stretch from Padleganj Chowk to Firaq Gorakhpuri Chowk into a spacious four-lane avenue, significantly easing internal city congestion. To support military infrastructure and pave the way for the upcoming Gorakhpur Airport terminal expansion, a ₹103.51 crore project relocating the Military Engineer Services (MES) office from the Air Force Station campus was completed. Additionally, public safety infrastructure received a direct boost with the inauguration of a ₹2.74 crore multi-capacity hostel, barracks, and investigation facilities at the Gulriha police station.
Strategic Foundation Stones Laid for Smart City and Women Empowerment Projects
Broadening the scope of urban development, CM Yogi laid foundation stones for ten high-impact initiatives, including the Chief Minister Shramikjeevi Mahila Hostel valued at ₹47.38 crore to support working women. Under the State Smart City Scheme, construction was launched for a state-of-the-art Science Museum near University Chowk worth ₹49.60 crore, alongside a ₹73.64 crore underpass and service road near Nandanagar Police Chowki to eliminate railway level-crossing delays. Educational and civic infrastructure improvements also featured prominently, including a new Centre of Excellence at the Government Women Polytechnic in partnership with Tata Technologies, upgrading the Raptinagar Depot Workshop, and multiple concrete road and drainage construction projects across local municipal wards.
