Religious importance of Geeta Jayanti and Mokshada Ekadashi

Geeta Jayanti (Gita Jayanti 2025 Significance)

Geeta Jayanti is the sacred day when Lord Krishna preached the Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra. This day reminds us of the importance of dharma, duty, and self-knowledge. On this occasion, devotees recite the Gita, meditate, and engage in satsang. The Gita teaches that patience, truth, and karma yoga in difficult circumstances are the right paths in life. Remaining dutiful and giving up worry about results brings peace and self-confidence to the mind. Geeta Jayanti is a divine occasion for self-reflection, spiritual progress, and a commitment to virtuous conduct.

Mokshada Ekadashi fast (Mokshada Ekadashi 2025 Significance)

The Mokshada Ekadashi fast is observed on the Ekadashi Tithi (eleventh day) of the Shukla Paksha (bright fortnight) of the month of Margashirsha. Worshiping Lord Vishnu on this day absolves sins and paves the way to salvation. It is believed that this fast also provides salvation to ancestors. Devotees bathe in the morning and take a vow to observe the fast, engage in bhajans and kirtans, and reciting the Gita holds special significance.
The Mokshada Ekadashi fast purifies the mind and brings peace, goodwill, and spiritual progress to life.

Method of Mokshada Ekadashi fast

  • Get up in the morning, clean yourself and take a bath.
  • Install the idol or picture of Lord Vishnu in a clean place.
  • Take a pledge to perform the puja by offering flowers, incense, lamp and naivedya.
  • During the fast, observe a fast or a fruit diet.
  • Recite Bhagavad Gita or chant Vishnu Sahasranama.
  • Stay away from anger, quarrels and negative activities throughout the day.
  • Perform aarti of Lord Vishnu in the evening.
  • Break the fast the next day on Dwadashi Tithi.
  • Donate to a Brahmin, poor or needy person.
