News Topical, Digital Desk : A police constable was killed by a tiger while riding a motorcycle in Arunachal Pradesh's Lower Dibang Valley district on Monday. The deceased was identified as Head Constable Chikseng Manpung of the Arunachal Pradesh Police. He was posted as a radio operator.

He was returning from Anini in the Dibang Valley on his bike when he was attacked. The incident has caused a sensation in the area, as such incidents are rare in the state.

Ban on plying of two-wheelers

Lower Dibang Valley Superintendent of Police (SP) Manish Saurya said that upon receiving the information, police and forest department teams immediately arrived at the scene. SP Saurya added that officials, in collaboration with the forest department, have banned two-wheeled vehicles from using the route.

The decision was taken following several reports of tiger sightings near the Mayudia area, which is known for its snowfall in winter and is a popular tourist destination.

Tigress and her cubs seen at night

Roing Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Meeto Rumi confirmed that for the past few days, especially at night, passersby have spotted a tigress and her three growing cubs on or near the road.

He further stated that steps are underway to relocate the tigers. Expert teams equipped with special equipment are currently en route from the state headquarters in Itanagar, as well as from three other tiger reserves in the state.
