Gastroenterologist Vivian Asamoah himself has told about this in his Instagram post. In this video, he told how even young people can become victims of advanced stage of fatty liver by drinking just one soda a day.

Harmful effects of drinking soda

Dr. Vivian says that even just one sugary soda a day can cause serious damage to the liver over time. She said that the problem is that  this liver problem  often does not give early warning signs and by the time you notice its symptoms, the damage has already begun.

Soda causes these diseases

Referring to a study published in the World Journal of Gastroenterology, Dr. Vivian said that by drinking soda daily for just 5-7 years, your liver can face the following problems:-

  • Fatty Liver Disease (MASLD)
  • Liver scarring (fibrosis)
  • Inflammation and liver damage

Early Symptoms of Fatty Liver

  • feeling tired and weak
  • Pain in the upper right part of the abdomen
  • Unexplained weight loss

These signs are seen when fatty liver becomes serious

  • Jaundice (yellowing of the eyes and skin)
  • Feeling sleepy
  • dark coloured urine
  • Stomach bloating
  • vomit blood
  • Itching of the skin

How to protect your liver

The doctor said that usually  fatty liver  is considered a problem of the elderly only, but this is not the case at all. These days this disease is increasing rapidly among the youth as well. Therefore, it is important to take care of some things to protect your liver.

Small changes can make a big difference. Instead of soda, choose water, sparkling water or unsweetened tea. This not only helps keep the liver healthy, but also protects your energy and overall health.
