What are the symptoms of sudden cardiac arrest?
- Sudden collapse – The most common symptom of SCA is that a person suddenly collapses without any warning and stops reacting.
- No pulse - You cannot feel a pulse in your neck or wrist because the heart stops pumping blood.
- Breathing stoppage- The patient's breathing may suddenly stop or become irregular.
- Fainting – The person immediately becomes unconscious and does not react in any way.
- Chest pain or discomfort – In some cases , a feeling of pressure, tightness, or pain in the chest may occur before SCA .
- Shortness of breath- You may suddenly feel short of breath or feel suffocated.
- Weakness or dizziness – Before an SCA, a person may feel very tired, dizzy, or faint.
- Fast or irregular heartbeat – Your heartbeat may suddenly become fast, fluttering, or uncontrolled.
What could be the causes of sudden cardiac arrest?
SCA is often caused by a disturbance in the heart rhythm (such as ventricular fibrillation). These may be some of the causes:
- Coronary Artery Disease
- have had a heart attack before
- Problems with the heart muscle
- Congenital Heart Disease
- drinking drugs or alcohol
- Severe electrolyte imbalance

What to do immediately when SCA occurs?
- Start CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation).
