News Topical, Digital Desk : The stock of the government power finance company REC Limited saw a great rise on Thursday. Intraday, this stock was seen trading at a price of Rs 409.74 per share with a gain of more than 2%. However, with the fall in the market, this stock also came under pressure from the upper levels and it was seen trading with a gain of about half a percent. This company with a market capitalization of about Rs 1.05 lakh crore has given a big information, after which this rise is seen in the stock.

REC has told the exchanges that it will raise Rs 1.55 lakh crore as funds through bonds. On June 4, the Board of Directors of REC has approved raising this amount on the basis of private placement. Apart from this, the company has also shared many updates recently, the effect of which is being seen on the price action of the stock.

Proposal to close Rajgarh III Power Transmission Limited
Along with the approval to raise funds, the board of the company has also approved the proposal to close Rajgarh III Power Transmission Limited. This company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL) and a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV). Earlier, the National Committee on Transmission (NCT) had selected RECPDCL as the lowest bidder for the project "Transmission System for Evacuation of Power from Renewable Energy Projects in Rajgarh (1500 MW) SEZ in Madhya Pradesh - Phase III". For this, RECPDCL had set up Rajgarh III Power Transmission Limited as an SPV. However, NCT recommended merging this project with other projects. Subsequently, the Ministry of Power de-notified Rajgarh Phase III (1500 MW) projects on 18 March 2025. Due to this, REC proposed to close this SPV. REC: Stock Performance REC shares have been in the news recently. During the month of May, this stock slipped 4%. In two months, the stock is down 5.72%, and on a year-to-date basis it is down 19.05%. During the last quarter, institutional foreign investors (FIIs) have reduced their stake in REC. During the December 2025 quarter, the share of FIIs in REC was 21.74%, which has come down to 20.48% during the March 2025 quarter. In this way, FIIs have reduced their stake in this stock by 1.26% in one quarter.
