News Topical, Digital Desk : Amid the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, a piece of relief news has emerged. Russian President Vladimir Putin has proposed to resume direct talks with Ukraine without any conditions in Istanbul on May 15.

Peace talks will start again

Speaking to reporters in the Kremlin on Saturday, Putin hinted at resuming the peace talks between the two countries in 2022. This move could bring a new twist in the conflict between the two countries.

"Russia did not break off the talks on 2022. It was Kiev. Nevertheless we are proposing that Kiev resume direct negotiations without any preconditions. Despite everything, we offer the Kiev authorities to resume the talks in Istanbul on Thursday," Putin said.

Putin's statement

"Let me remind you that as a result of these talks a joint draft document was prepared and even signed by the head of the Kiev negotiating group, but at the insistence of the West it was thrown into the dustbin," he said.

"Russia has repeatedly initiated a ceasefire. The Kiev authorities have not responded to any of our ceasefire proposals. During the three days of the declared ceasefire, Kiev has made 5 attempts to attack the Russian border," the Russian President said.
