Ashwini Vaishnav attacked Congress

Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav accused the Congress that their governments in Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan had definitely announced to implement the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) in place of NPS, but no steps have been taken so far. On the other hand, PM Narendra Modi took the pension issue seriously and formed a committee on it and has now decided to implement the new scheme.

There will be no burden on central employees: Vaishnav

He clarified that no burden will be put on central employees for this new scheme. While OPS was a guaranteed payment scheme without any financial contribution, the Centre's contribution has been increased to raise additional resources for UPS. Earlier this contribution amount was 10 percent, which was increased to 14 percent by the Modi government in the year 2019. Now it has been decided to make it 18.5 percent.
