News Topical, Digital Desk : Revealing the terror funding network in Delhi's Lajpat Nagar, the Counter Intelligence Unit of Kashmir Police raided a firm named 'Shalimar Textiles'. Actually, the Counter Intelligence Unit of Kashmir had registered an FIR under UAPA and during the investigation in this case, the Jammu and Kashmir Police got information about a sleeper network of terror funding based in Delhi. After this, this raid was conducted. 

Funding Lashkar-e-Taiba under the guise of business 

One of the arrested persons is Mohammad Ayub Bhat, who hails from Budgam (Kashmir) and used to run a cloth business in Delhi under the name 'Shalimar Textiles'. The second accused Mohammad Rafiq Shah is a resident of Bemina area of ​​Srinagar. Both are accused of funding Lashkar-e-Taiba under the guise of business.

Investigation by the County Intelligence Unit of Jammu and Kashmir Police has revealed that LeT handlers operating from Pakistan were sending money to Kashmir with the help of Pakistani citizens living in Gulf countries. This money was being sent to Kashmir through the hawala network through Haj pilgrims, migrant laborers and businessmen.

Digital devices and suspicious chats recovered during the raid

During the raid, the police found digital devices, suspicious chats, foreign transactions and evidence of conversations with terrorist handlers. The investigating agencies are now conducting an in-depth forensic investigation of these electronic evidences, so that the extent of this network of terrorist funding can be ascertained.

Raid in collaboration with Delhi Police

Jammu and Kashmir Police said that counter-intelligence teams in collaboration with Delhi Police searched the premises located in Lajpat Nagar on a warrant issued under the NIA Act. This action is part of a wider investigation being conducted under the UAPA case. Police further said that preliminary interrogation of the accused reveals that it involves an international terror financing network, which includes foreign operators, supporters from the Gulf region and local overground workers (OGWs).
