News Topical, Digital Desk : Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar is once again in the news. The reason for this discussion is a viral video in which he is allegedly seen threatening a female IPS officer of Solapur.

This case is about illegal Murum (sand like soil) mining, against which Ajit Pawar allegedly scolded the officer over the phone who went to take action. This video has spread like wildfire on social media and people are raising questions.

Actually this incident happened two days ago in Kurdu village of Karmala taluka of Solapur. Sub-Divisional Police Officer (DSP) Anjana Krishna had reached there to take action on the complaint of illegal murum mining.

The officer took strict measures to stop illegal mining of murum used in road construction. But the villagers opposed it. Meanwhile, local NCP worker Baba Jagtap reportedly made Ajit Pawar talk directly on the phone.

'Have you been so daring?'

In the video, Ajit Pawar can be clearly heard talking to DSP Anjana Krishna on Baba Jagtap's phone. Anjana told him, "I don't understand that I am talking to the Deputy Chief Minister. Please call me directly on my number."

Ajit Pawar got angry at this. He replied angrily, "Wait a minute, I will take action against you. I am talking to you myself and you are saying to call directly? Are you so daring?"

After this, Ajit Pawar made a WhatsApp video call in which he asked the officer to stop the action. Anjana clarified that she did not know that she was talking to Ajit Pawar.

This video has sparked a debate on social media. People are raising questions whether it is appropriate for a big leader to threaten an officer in this manner? At the same time, some say that Ajit Pawar had only tried to calm down his workers.

What did NCP say in its defense?

NCP defended its leader and said that Ajit Pawar's statements were being misrepresented.

State party president Sunil Tatkare said, "Ajit Dada only scolded the officer to calm down the workers, his intention was not to stop the action. He never supports illegal activities."

Party spokesperson Anand Paranjape also said that this video is being deliberately given a wrong colour. According to him, Ajit Pawar was just trying to control the situation.

On the other hand, the opposition was quick to seize this opportunity. Many leaders alleged that Ajit Pawar misused his position and tried to intimidate an honest officer.

DSP Anjana Krishna, Tehsildar, and Sub-Divisional Officer did not comment openly in this matter. Everyone just said that the matter is under investigation. No police complaint has been filed yet. NCP claims that this video was deliberately leaked to defame Ajit Pawar.
