Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a scathing attack on the opposition Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Congress, accusing them of generating an "identity crisis" for Ghazipur and the wider Purvanchal region by promoting foreign invaders instead of honoring true national heroes. Addressing a massive public gathering on Thursday, July 30, 2026, after laying the foundation stone and inaugurating development projects worth ₹692 crore in Ghazipur, the Chief Minister distributed welfare certificates and approval letters to beneficiaries, emphasizing that the NDA government has successfully restored the historical pride, security, and developmental momentum of the state.

'SP and Congress Glorified Foreign Invaders, Disrespected National Icons'

Targeting the opposition during his address, CM Yogi Adityanath asserted that those responsible for creating an identity crisis in the past are the exact same individuals who sidelined national legends while glorifying foreign invaders. Highlighting the cultural and historical rectifications undertaken by the current administration, the Chief Minister noted that the BJP government proudly honored historical figures like Maharaja Suheldev, constructed a magnificent statue at Chittaura in Bahraich, established a medical college and a university in his name in Azamgarh, and introduced the Suheldev Superfast Express connecting Ghazipur to Delhi's Anand Vihar. He further accused previous governments of intentionally canceling commemorative programs for national icons to promote fairs associated with foreign figures, while renaming institutions originally dedicated to revered leaders like Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar and Saint Ravidas.

Exposing Corruption in Purvanchal Expressway and Past Lawlessness

Reflecting on the administrative failures of the previous Samajwadi Party regime, Yogi Adityanath highlighted rampant corruption and governance lapses. He alleged that under the previous administration, millions were siphoned off without actual development on the Purvanchal Expressway until the BJP government systematically reviewed the project, re-acquired necessary land, and completed the modern highway network. Contrasting past law and order challenges marked by frequent curfews, targeted riots, and irregularities in public recruitment, the Chief Minister declared, "Now there are no curfews or riots anywhere in Uttar Pradesh, and everything is fine. Those who disrupt festivals, threaten the safety of women and businessmen, or interfere in recruitment processes will face strict action."

Transforming Ghazipur's Infrastructure and Honoring Military Heritage

Celebrating Ghazipur's glorious tradition of patriotism and exceptional military service, CM Yogi Adityanath paid glowing tributes to local legends like Param Vir Chakra recipient Company Quartermaster Havildar Abdul Hamid, who demonstrated supreme courage and sacrifice on the battlefield. Underlining modern infrastructural marvels, the Chief Minister pointed out that Ghazipur is now seamlessly integrated with wide four-lane roadways and the Purvanchal Expressway, shrinking travel time to Lucknow to approximately three and a half hours, with future plans already underway to extend the expressway corridor further toward Chandauli.
