News Topical, Digital Desk : A 21-year-old IIT Bombay student committed suicide by jumping from the hostel roof early Wednesday morning. The incident occurred around 1:30 am at the hostel in Mumbai's Powai area.
Naman Agarwal, a second-year engineering student at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, jumped from the roof of hostel number 4. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
A police officer said the cause of death is unknown. The student was from Pilani, Rajasthan. Based on preliminary information, the police have registered an accidental death report (ADR).
Police said the situation would only become clear after examining the post-mortem report and other evidence. A source at the hospital's post-mortem centre said, "The post-mortem was not conducted today and has been scheduled for Thursday, as the family is expected to arrive.
