Akshay Khanna was not getting films
One such video is now going viral on social media, in which Akshaye Khanna talks about how he first told his father, Vinod Khanna, about acting. It offers a glimpse into how this path led him to Border. Akshaye Khanna, who is currently receiving widespread praise for his portrayal of the dacoit Rehmat, once struggled to find work in films.
He said he struggled a lot in the beginning and suffered the consequences of choosing the wrong films. "I had very little success in the beginning," the actor said. "I did the wrong films, I chose the wrong scripts. So, there were mistakes. But I never try to imitate anyone."
I decided at a young age
The veteran actor said that he dreamed of becoming an actor at a very young age, without any encouragement from his family. He said, "I didn't get any encouragement from anyone. They wanted me to go ahead and study further. But, I think I had decided by the time I was 15 or 16... If I want to do something in life, I can do it here. So I will do it here. And this is where I find happiness and satisfaction."
Akshay revealed that JP Dutta once came to his house for dinner. He was still attending boarding school at the time. That's when JP offered him Border 2, and Akshay Khanna accepted. Vinod Khanna then tried to gauge his son's interest in whether he really wanted to work in films.
JP Dutta gave the film
To this the actor said, "Yes, let's see." It's a small role, a multi-star cast film. J.P. Sahib asked, so I said, "Let me try." Then Vinod Khanna said, "Let me make a film for you." Then, in 1997, Akshaye Khanna made his debut with Himalaya Putra, which Vinod Khanna produced. This was followed by Border, which earned the actor the Most Promising Newcomer award that year.
