The language of my country does not believe in high and low

There is no capital or small letter in it and yes, a full letter is always ready to support even a half letter. This is how megastar Amitabh Bachchan shows his love for his mother tongue on Hindi Diwas. On his internet media account, he often quotes lines from his father and poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan and the beauty of the pearls of words chosen from Premchand's literature is also visible.

Master the language for excellence

Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, director of the films The Kashmir Files and The Tashkent Files, has a good command over the Hindi language. Since a mixed dialect is used in our country, I try to use the same language in my films.

Many times actors have to explain Hindi dialogues in English. In one of my films, there was a dialogue that was very ironic. I had to explain this line to the actor in English. This is also a problem of our education system. However, actors have to work hard to speak the dialogues of my film correctly.

Amitabh himself wrote the monologue in Hindi

Artists who speak and understand good Hindi can immediately spot wrong Hindi. This is why actor Amitabh Bachchan had to write his own monologue in the film Chehre. Producer Anand Pandit tells the story, 'Bachchan sahab had a monologue in the film Chehre, which I had got written by big writers, but Bachchan sahab did not like it.

He stopped the shooting and went to his vanity van and wrote the entire monologue himself. It is a record of 12 minutes. He has a strong command over Hindi. I myself prefer Hindi. Once I went to Ahmedabad to attend a big program. Many big people gave speeches in English. When my turn came, I said that I would like to express my feelings in Hindi. There was applause for me for two minutes.

Acting gets an edge

Actor Manoj Joshi, who is active in theatre and films, says that Hindi is our official language and the bindi of our nation. Without a command over the language, an actor's acting skills cannot be sharp. Language enhances talent. I have been doing the Chanakya play continuously for the last 35 years.

There are many Sanskrit words in it. I have explained them to the actors in simple Hindi. Some actors feel that Hindi has become complex, but these are common words. The soul of the Chanakya play is its melodious language. People told me that they watched this play many times to enrich their Hindi knowledge. I believe that any work, be it a play or a dance, language is its soul. Words shape the mind of the audience. There are many synonyms for a single word in Hindi. Where else will you find such a rich language?

Taught Hindi to the British on the sets of Lagaan

Actor Akhilendra Mishra not only has a good command over the Hindi language, but he has also written many books in Hindi. Akhilendra, who played the role of Arjan in the film Lagaan, set during the British rule, shares memories related to that film, 'On the set of Lagaan, we even taught Hindi to the British. They spent about two and a half months on the set of Lagaan.

While working with us, he gradually started speaking some Hindi words and sentences like thank you and I am good. Ashutosh Gowariker and Aamir Khan did a workshop with the English actors in London. They were given the script two months before the shooting began.

They seemed keen to learn Hindi. They spoke simple sentences like 'How are you?' and 'My name is so and so' in Hindi. I used to teach Hindi to actor Paul Blackthorn, who played Captain Andrew Russell in the film. I also told him that Blackthorn means black thorn. Hindi has become a global language. Go out of the airport of any country and you will find at least ten people who speak and understand Hindi.
