News Topical, Digital Desk : A strong earthquake struck northern Afghanistan . Buildings collapsed, killing seven people. More than 150 people were injured. The quake's magnitude was measured at 6.3 on the Richter scale.

The epicenter of the earthquake that struck the Afghan city of Mazar-e-Sharif was 28 kilometers below ground level. More than 523,000 people live in this area, and they suffered this devastation.

Mazar-e-Sharif also fell

The quake also affected the Mazar-e-Sharif, also known as the Blue Mosque, one of the holiest sites in the region, with a large portion of it collapsing.

According to Samim Joyinda, a spokesman for the health department in nearby Mazar-e-Sharif, 150 people were injured and hospitalized. Seven people have died in the disaster.

Earthquakes have caused devastation before.

Afghanistan's National Disaster Management Agency says the full extent of the earthquake's devastation is yet to be assessed. However, this isn't the first time Afghanistan has experienced strong tremors. A previous earthquake in August caused widespread devastation, claiming thousands of lives.
