What is done on which day?

October 18-19, Dhanteras: The festival of lights begins with Dhanteras. Purchasing gold, silver, utensils, and vehicles is considered auspicious on this day. Lord Dhanvantari is worshipped to pray for health and prosperity. The festivities begin with the lighting of lamps in the evening.

October 20, Diwali: This day is the most sacred and anticipated festival of lights. Lakshmi and Ganesha are worshipped in homes. Lamps are lit to signify the triumph of light over darkness. Every home is filled with the fragrance of sweets, delicacies, and joy.

October 21, Amavasya: This day will be Amavasya Tithi throughout the day. Traditionally, worship is not performed on Amavasya. Therefore, Govardhan Puja will be performed the next day.

October 22, Govardhan Puja: Lord Krishna is worshipped on this day. The Annakut festival is celebrated in homes and temples. This festival is an occasion to express gratitude to nature, food, and God.

October 23, Bhai Dooj: The final day of Diwali is a celebration of brotherly affection. Sisters apply a tilak to their brothers, wishing them long life and happiness, and brothers shower their sisters with love and blessings.
