News Topical, Digital Desk : Supreme Court Chief Justice B.R. Gavai has made a major reshuffle in the bench of Justice J.B. Pardiwala, the main reason behind which is considered to be two recent controversial orders given by him. These decisions had sparked a heated debate not only in legal circles but also among the general public.

First controversy: Allahabad HC judge case

The first case was related to the Allahabad High Court. A bench of Justice Pardiwala and Justice R. Mahadevan passed an order barring a judge of the Allahabad High Court from hearing criminal cases and also directed that he be seated with a senior judge. There was a huge controversy over this order, after which Chief Justice Gavai had to intervene. He asked the bench to reconsider its order, after which the bench had to change its original order.

Second controversy: The issue of stray dogs

The second case was related to stray dogs in Delhi-NCR. On August 11, the same bench had ordered that all stray dogs be removed from the streets and sent to shelter homes. This decision was also strongly opposed by animal lovers and social organizations across the country. Seeing the controversy, Chief Justice Gavai took immediate action and removed the case from Justice Pardiwala's bench and handed it over to a new bench of three judges.

Changes made to the roster

After these two incidents, changes have been made in the roster of the Supreme Court. Now a new bench of Justice K.V. Vishwanathan has been formed along with Justice Pardiwala, while Justice R. Mahadevan has been included in the new bench along with Justice B.V. Nagarathna.
