Importance of Chhath Puja
Chhath, the great festival of folk faith, is celebrated in many parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, eastern Uttar Pradesh and Nepal. On this auspicious occasion, the Sun God, the factor of the soul, is worshipped and worshipped. During Chhath Puja, Arghya is offered to the setting Sun on Shashthi Tithi. Whereas, Arghya is offered to the rising Sun on Saptami Tithi. The fasting people (women and men) observe a waterless fast from the night of Kharna till offering Arghya to the rising Sun God. By observing this fast, every wish of the devotee is fulfilled.
Chhath Puja auspicious time (Chhath Puja 2025 Subh Muhurat)
According to the Vedic calendar, the Shashthi Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month will begin on October 27 at 06:04 am and will end on October 28 at 07:59 am. Therefore, evening Arghya will be offered on October 27. Morning Arghya will be offered on the next day i.e. October 28.
When is Nahay Khay? (When is Nahay Khay 2025)
Nahai Khay is celebrated on the fourth day of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month. Chhath Puja begins from this day. On this day, the devotees take bath and meditate and worship the deity, god and Sun God of the clan. After this, they eat rice, lentils and gourd vegetable. This year, Nahai Khay is on 25 October.
When is Kharna? (When is Kharna 2025)
Kharna is celebrated on the fifth day of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month. On this day, the devotees keep a waterless fast. In the evening, after taking a bath and meditating, they worship Chhathi Maiya. Rice pudding and fruits and flowers are offered to Chhathi Maiya as Prasad. After the worship, the devotees accept the Prasad. This year Kharna is on October 26. Nirjala fast begins after Kharna Puja.
When will the offering be made
- Arghya will be offered to the setting sun on the Shashthi Tithi of the Shukla Paksha of Kartik month i.e. on 27 October.
 - Arghya will be offered to the rising sun on the Saptami Tithi of the Shukla Paksha of Kartik month i.e. on October 28.
