News Topical, Digital Desk : Police have arrested four accused in the gangrape case of a 24-year-old student at Kolkata Law College. Apart from the three accused involved in the gangrape, the college guard is also in police custody. Police had called the guard for questioning, after which he was arrested. At the same time, the CCTV footage of the law college has also been obtained by the police.

 

The police have retrieved about 7 hours of CCTV footage from the law college, in which the assault on the student can be clearly seen. On the basis of this footage, the police have also arrested the college guard.

 

Police examined CCTV footage

According to a Kolkata Police official, the victim was taken to the law college on Saturday, where the crime scene was studied in detail. When the police took out the CCTV footage of those places, the guard was seen roaming around the crime scene. When the guard was questioned on this, he was unable to give a clear answer. Therefore, the police have also taken the guard into custody.

 

SIT will investigate the matter

Now the police is trying to find out whether only one guard was on duty at the time of the incident or more than one guard was present at the spot? Kolkata Police has formed a five-member SIT under the Assistant Commissioner, which is investigating the case.

 

What was shown in the CCTV footage?

According to the police, the CCTV footage matches the allegations made by the student. The police saw the CCTV footage from 3:30 pm to 10:30 pm, in which the student is seen being forcibly taken to the guard room. The three accused are dragging the student to the guard room.

Let us tell you that Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar had taken out a rally against the gang rape in the Law College. The police have taken Sukanta and other party leaders into custody. All of them have been sent to the Kolkata Police Headquarters located in Lal Bazar.
