News Topical, Digital Desk : Bangladesh Minority Human Rights Congress (HRCBM) has said that the interim government has no control over law and order. There is a dangerous wave of sexual violence against minorities in the country, in which women and children of Hindus, Christians, Buddhists and other minority communities are being targeted.

87% of victims are minor girls

Citing reports by human rights organisation Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK), the HRCBM said 342 rape cases were officially registered in less than three months during the first quarter of 2025, of which 87 per cent of the victims were girls under the age of 18.

Of these, 40 victims were children under the age of six. At the same time, cases of gang rape against minors have also increased rapidly. According to the human rights organization, the real number is in thousands, which does not come to light due to silence and fear.

Cases are decided on the basis of religious bias in law enforcement and lower courts, which leads to cases not being registered and justice not being provided to those in need.

Headless bodies of girls were found

In most of the cases, headless bodies of women and girls have been found, which gives an idea of the cruelty. Instead of courts, mob justice is being done. A report says that in Bangladesh, justice is now being done through mob violence and not through courts.

174 people died in mob violence between 2025

Highlighting data from several rights groups, the report mentions that 174 people, ranging from political activists to small businessmen, have been killed in mob violence between August 2024 and May 2025. More than 150 lawyers have been jailed.
