News Topical, Digital Desk : On one hand, while India's military tension with Pakistan is increasing, on the other hand, India's biggest strategic partner America's attitude seems to be neutral. America is condemning the Pahalgam attack and is also talking about increasing cooperation with India against terrorism, but its main emphasis is on starting a direct dialogue between the two countries.
From President Donald Trump to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, everyone is indicating that the US has a similar relationship with India and Pakistan. Vice President JD Vance made it clear on Friday that the US does not want to get embroiled in a war between India and Pakistan.
We have nothing to do with it: JD Vance
JD Vance said in an interview to a media channel that, "We are encouraging them (Pakistan and India) to reduce the tension a little bit, but we are not going to get caught in a war between them because basically it has nothing to do with us and it has nothing to do with America's ability to control them or not."
Statement by J.D. Vance
JD Vance clarified that, "America cannot tell India to lay down its arms. We cannot tell the Pakistanis to give up their arms. That is why we are trying to put our point across through diplomatic means. We hope that this tension does not turn into a full-blown war and God forbid, a nuclear war. At the moment, we do not expect this."
America's stand is clear
Let us tell you that when JD Vance came to India last month, there was an attack by terrorists on innocent tourists in Pahalgam. He condemned the attack in strong words. Like Trump, Vance is also in favor of America not getting involved in the wars of other countries. The statement given by President Trump on Thursday also indicates that in the current tense situation, America is trying to weigh India and Pakistan on the same scale.
Trump's statement
While talking about India and Pakistan, Donald Trump had said, “America has good relations with both Pakistan and India. I know both of them very well and I want them to work together. I want this (tension) to end. If I can do something, I will definitely do it.”
What did Marco Rubio say?
After this, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke to India's Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and Pakistan's PM Shahbaz Sharif late in the evening. He appealed to end cross-border terrorism but also supported Pakistan's demand for a fair investigation of the Pahalgam attack. Spokespersons of the US Foreign Ministry and Rashtrapati Bhavan have also talked about conducting a fair investigation of the said attack in the press conference. India has rejected this demand.
Vikram Misri gave the answer
Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri had said a day earlier that the demand for an investigation is an old trick of Pakistan. India has conducted such investigations in collaboration with Pakistan before, but it has not yielded any results. Pakistan tries to save its terrorists under the guise of this.
