News Topical, Digital Desk : The Office of the US Trade Representative (USTR) has deleted an internet media post that showed the entire Jammu and Kashmir region, including occupied Jammu and Kashmir, and the Aksai Chin region as part of India on a map of India.

Last week, when the US and India announced details of the bilateral Interim Framework Agreement on Trade, the USTR office had posted the above map along with information about the trade agreement on exports.

No explanation given

However, this post has been deleted without any explanation. Previous maps of India depicted occupied Jammu and Kashmir and the Aksai Chin region using a separate line. It is noteworthy that India has always insisted that the entire Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir was, is, and will always remain a part of India.

What is India's claim?

India also maintains that Aksai Chin is part of its territory based on historical claims and previous treaties. Previously, China had claimed Arunachal Pradesh, the Aksai Chin region, Taiwan, and the disputed South China Sea in a standard map released by China.
