News Topical, Digital Desk : The BJP suffered a crushing defeat in the November by-election for the Anta assembly seat in Rajasthan's Baran district. This defeat has sparked a rift within the party. Morpal Suman, the BJP candidate and considered a close confidante of National Vice President and former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, has leveled serious allegations against senior leaders within his own party.
Allegations leveled against leaders including Om Birla
Morpal Suman wrote a letter to the party leadership, which later became public in the media. In this letter, he directly blamed some senior party leaders, including Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, for the defeat.
Suman alleges that these leaders used money to defeat him and ensure the victory of the Congress candidate. He also raised questions about Rajasthan government minister Hiralal Nagar and some party officials.
Morpal Suman, while reviewing his defeat, also expressed displeasure over the delay in ticket distribution. He stated that if he had received the ticket on time and the organization had worked properly, the results could have been different. He remained in third place for most of the by-election vote count, which further exacerbated his displeasure.
Party takes tough stand, issues notice
Following the incident, the BJP has taken a tough stand. State President and Rajya Sabha MP Madan Rathod has issued a show-cause notice to Morpal Suman, demanding a response within three days.
The party says that Suman made serious allegations against senior party leaders without any solid basis and committed indiscipline by making the internal letter public in the media.
This entire development is being seen as a continuation of the ongoing infighting between senior leaders within the BJP. It is believed that some factions within the party are targeting each other using the Morpal Suman issue as an excuse. Despite the show-cause notice, this feud appears to be unending.
Congress got a chance to attack
Congress candidate and former minister Pramod Jain Bhaya won the Anta by-election. Now, the Congress party has taken a dig at this controversy. State media chief and general secretary of the Congress, Swarnim Chaturvedi, said that BJP leaders are not concerned with the problems of the common people; they are only preoccupied with the struggle for power.
