Dhaka: The World Bank's Board of Executive Directors has approved two projects worth US $ 700 million to provide basic services to host communities and displaced Rohingya in Bangladesh. Of these, US $ 350 million will be released for the Inclusive Services and Opportunities Project and US $ 350 million for the Livelihood Enhancement Project.

According to news agency Xinhua, about 1 million displaced Rohingyas from Myanmar are currently living in Bangladesh. The World Bank said that we appreciate the generosity of the Bangladesh government in supporting nearly 1 million Rohingya people.

Abdoulaye Seck, World Bank Director for Bangladesh and Bhutan, said that we also recognize the enormous pressure on the host communities. The World Bank Director said that we are fully committed to supporting the Government of Bangladesh to deal with this complex crisis and for the well-being of both.
