The Democratic National Committee on Saturday elected Ken Martin as its new chairman to strengthen the party after its electoral defeat in November at the hands of Donald Trump. Martin has replaced Jaime Harrison of South Carolina in the Democratic National Committee.
Martin warned Trump and his Republican allies that they are coming. This is the new Democratic Party. Martin promised changes. He said he could not discuss specific actions until the party conducts a post-election review to determine what went wrong in November.
How long can the process take?
It's unclear how long that process might take. Martin said it will be completed as quickly as possible and then released publicly.
Where was the party election held?
The party leadership election took place in Washington, where more than 400 DNC members from every state and US territory gathered for the winter meeting. A Quinnipiac University poll this week showed the Democratic Party's popularity has declined. Just 31 percent of voters have a favorable opinion of the Democratic Party. 43 percent of voters support the Republican Party.
