Vidya Balan's film 'The Dirty Picture', one of the most powerful actresses of Bollywood, is considered an iconic film. Vidya played the role of South's famous actress Silk Smita in the film. 'The Dirty Picture', released in 2011, collected more than Rs 100 crore at the worldwide box office, which was a big thing for a film with a female lead at that time. 

Vidya's work in this was so excellent that she was also given the National Award for her role that year. Now in an interview, Vidya said that this film changed the entire graph of her career and taught her to 'choose such films in which you put your full effort as an actor.' But Vidya also said that she got addicted to smoking due to this film. 

Vidya likes the smell of cigarettes very much. 
In an interview with the YouTube channel, Unfiltered with Samdish, Vidya said that she likes the smell of cigarettes very much. He said, 'After The Dirty Picture I became addicted.' He told what smoking changed for the film. He said that the way Silk Smita smoked, she had no hesitation. Therefore, he had to smoke cigarettes with great enthusiasm and relish, due to which he also became addicted. 
Vidya said, 'I had smoked even before the shooting of the film. I knew how to smoke cigarettes but I didn't actually smoke... you know what I mean. But as a character, you can't fake it. I could not show any hesitation because there is a special perception about women who smoke. Now it is very less, then it was very much. 

Alas, cigarettes do not cause any harm. 
When Vidya was asked whether she still smokes? So he said, 'No. I don't think I should say this on camera, but I enjoy smoking very much. If someone says that this will not harm you, then I will start doing this. I love the smell of smoke. During my college days, I used to stand near people who were smoking. 

'The Dirty Picture' liberated Vidya. 
Vidya said that she was hesitant before doing 'The Dirty Picture' but this film made her feel liberated. Vidya said, 'I was just scared of those short and cleavage-showing clothes. And dancing like that... when I thought of becoming an actress, I had never imagined myself doing all this. I felt like 'Wow, I want this opportunity', but I also realized that people are going to see all this on camera. 

He further said, 'This film liberated me. After the film I was called 'sexy' so I thought if people think I look sexy like this... then it means it has nothing to do with size. This thought liberated me, otherwise I have always had a lot of body image issues.
