Suitable temperature for potatoes
Suitable temperature is very important for sowing potatoes. Dr. Ashok Kumar Chauhan, Chief Technical Officer of Central Potato Research Institute, Meerut, said that temperature is very important in sowing potatoes. Therefore, the temperature should remain below 30 degrees.
According to Dr. Ashok Kumar Chauhan, the temperature right now is not sufficient for sowing potatoes. Therefore, if farmers wait for a week and then sow potatoes, it will be very beneficial and the crop will also be good. He told that last time sowing had started from 20 October, but this time the weather is a bit hotter, at present the weather is not favorable for sowing potatoes.
The weather till November 15 will be very favorable for sowing potatoes during the late harvest season
. In the initial phase, Kufri Chipsona One, Kufri Surya, Kufri Bahar varieties of potatoes can be sown.
For the late crop, potato sowing can be done from 15 November to 15 December. During this time, Kufri Pukhraj, Kufri Chipsona Three, Kufri Ganga, Kufri Mohan and Kufri Khyaati varieties can be sown.
Dr. Ashok Kumar Chauhan, Chief Technical Officer of Central Potato Research Institute, Meerut has advised the farmers to bring the seeds from the cold storage and keep them in the open 8 to 10 days before sowing potatoes. Then sow the potatoes after ploughing, this will result in a very good crop.
What did the farmers of Kharkhoda say?
Potato is sown more in Kharkhoda area of Meerut than in other areas. Arjun Singh, a farmer from Narhada, said that we will sow potatoes after 10 days, the weather is not good right now. This time the price of potatoes is good, but it goes down as the crop arrives.
Vikas Tyagi, a resident of Kharkhoda, said that he has brought potato seeds from the cold store and as soon as the weather improves, we will start sowing.
Yogesh Vihaan, a farmer from Sivaya village in Daurala, says that we have stopped sowing potato crop. He said that the cost is high and middlemen earn more profit.
According to farmer Yogesh Vihaan, there is a problem of labour in digging potatoes. Apart from this, the cost of cold storage, transportation and labour is high and savings are less, so we have stopped sowing potatoes.
