Metabolism is a process in which energy is obtained from food. This helps in proper digestion of food in the body and all the body parts get the right amount of nutrition. This keeps the person active and energetic throughout the day. However, the speed of metabolism depends on many factors, such as age, gender, genetics, physical activity and food. If the metabolism is good, then it helps in reducing weight. On the other hand, if the metabolism is slow, then due to this the weight is reduced very slowly. Therefore, here we are telling some such foods (Foods Which Slow Metabolism) which should be eaten as little as possible, because it reduces metabolism.

Fast food

Foods with high fats slow down the metabolism. Foods like burgers, pizza, French fries etc. can slow down the metabolism, due to which there is lack of energy throughout the day and the person feels lazy . Its consumption also increases weight rapidly.

Foods rich in refined flour

Things made from refined flour, such as noodles, pasta etc. slow down metabolism. It has less fiber content due to which digestion is not done properly and metabolism slows down. It also causes weight gain.

Highly processed foods

Highly processed foods or packaged foods also affect the speed of metabolism. Such as canned food items, sweets etc. These have less nutrition and are less effective in producing energy for the body. Along with this, they also contain a lot of sugar, which slows down the metabolism.

Sugar

Consuming too much sugar can increase insulin levels, which increases the chances of fat being stored. This leads to rapid weight gain and slows down metabolism.

Alcohol

Excessive alcohol consumption can affect metabolism and reduce energy production. This also increases the chances of weight gain.

Refined Oil

Sometimes metabolism also slows down due to some refined oils. Refined oils like soybean, sunflower oil are rich in omega-6 fatty acids. Excessive consumption of these increases insulin and leptin resistance, which slows down metabolism.
