New Delhi: The heads of anti-terrorism agencies will brainstorm for two days on the current challenges of terrorism facing the country and the measures to deal with it. In the two-day anti-terrorism conference starting from Thursday, discussions can be held on measures to deal with the increasing incidents of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir and the bomb rumours in planes and hotels which are becoming a challenge to the country's economic sovereignty.
Terrorist incidents have reduced significantly in the last 10 years
Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate it. According to official sources in the Home Ministry, all issues affecting national security will be discussed in the conference organized by the NIA. However, terrorist incidents have reduced significantly in the entire country including Jammu and Kashmir in the last 10 years.
Separatist incidents in Northeast India have also reached the lowest level and Amit Shah has announced to completely eradicate Naxalism by March 2026. Despite this, new challenges are also emerging for national security. In such a situation, this conference is being considered important.
There will be a discussion on dealing with bomb rumours in planes and hotels
The agencies have failed to formulate any concrete strategy so far to deal with the bomb rumours especially in planes and hotels. The strategy to deal with this can be discussed in detail during the conference.
A senior Home Ministry official said that there has been success in curbing terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir to a large extent. But its eco-system has not been completely destroyed. This is the reason why there has been an increase in terrorist incidents in the last few months.
As per the Modi government's zero tolerance policy against terrorism, it is important to completely destroy its eco-system. The strategy for this will also be discussed in the conference. Along with this, there will also be a discussion on creating better coordination between various agencies to ensure quick and severe punishment to the arrested terrorists from the court.
Resolution for special status passed in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly
Amid heavy uproar and strong opposition from the BJP, the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Wednesday passed a resolution to restore the special status of the state, although there is no mention of Article 370 in this resolution. Before the elections, the National Conference had promised to bring a resolution to reinstate Article 370 in the first meeting of the Assembly. On the other hand, the BJP created a lot of uproar by calling it anti-constitutional and anti-national. Congress, which has been avoiding issues like 370 till now, was also seen standing in support of the resolution.
