WHO has declared a global health emergency

This is the strain that is currently spreading rapidly in African countries and due to which WHO declared monkeypox a global health emergency for the second time last month.

Symptoms of Monkeypox

Why is the Clade-1 strain dangerous?

The Clade-1 strain is a variant of monkeypox that is considered more dangerous than other variants. This strain spreads more rapidly than other strains, increasing the risk of infection. In addition, people infected with the Clade-1 strain may experience more severe symptoms, such as high fever, painful rash, and other complications.

In some cases, this strain can also become severe and cause pneumonia or encephalitis. Scientists are still researching the reasons why this strain is more dangerous, but it is believed that there have been some changes in its genes due to which it has become more infectious and dangerous.

Clade-1 strain has higher mortality rate

The Clade-1B strain is a very dangerous form of monkeypox. A huge increase in mortality rate is being seen due to this new strain. The main reason for this is that this strain not only affects the skin but also has a profound effect on the respiratory system.

A person infected with the Clade-1B strain may develop severe respiratory problems such as pneumonia. Pneumonia causes inflammation of the lungs and makes breathing difficult. This condition can often be fatal.

According to some studies, the mortality rate among patients infected with the Clade-1B strain has reached around 10%. However, this rate depends on various factors such as the patient's age, health condition and available medical facilities.
