Sambhal Riot 1978: Sambhal district administration has taken 15 more days from the government to send the report of the 1978 riots in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh. The files of 10 riot cases have been found, but case number 441/78 has troubled the officials. Its file is not being found. All the cases related to murder were included in this case with crime number 88. The files of the 10 cases that have been found are of attempt to burn alive and robbery sections. 

The officials are busy studying the files, preparations are on to send the report to the government soon. After the matter of the 1978 riots was raised in the Legislative Council on December 17, 2024, the government had sought a report from the administration on January 6, the report could not be sent due to non-availability of files. After the government took cognizance, the district administration has sought fifteen more days, some riot victims of 1978 want to get the investigation done again. The officials will also send their applications to the government along with their report, on this basis the investigation can be done again.

Many people were burnt alive in Sambhal riots.
Communal riots broke out in Sambhal on March 29, 1978, in which many people were burnt alive. After the riots, many Hindu families living in Muslim-dominated areas migrated. At that time Sambhal was a part of Moradabad district. 16 cases were filed in various courts here. On December 23, 1993, the then Mulayam government of the state withdrew eight cases. The 1978 riots also came into the headlines after violence broke out in protest against the survey of Jama Masjid on November 24, 2024.

Let us tell you that on December 14, 2024, a Shiva temple was found in Khaggu Sarai. It was closed since the 1978 riots, the administrative officials opened this temple and started worship. After this many riot victims came forward. Only after this the matter was raised in the Legislative Council, according to authorized sources, files of 10 riot cases have been found so far. Most of which are withdrawn cases. The murder cases in the riots were included in file number 441/78. Due to non-availability of the file, the district administration is not able to finalize its report.

SP MP gets time to show the map of the house.
Sambhal SP Krishna Kumar Bishnoi says that the files are being studied and the report will be sent to the government soon. On the other hand, SP MP Ziaur Rahman Barq has been given more time till 10 February to show the map of the house. On Tuesday, the MP's advocate Mohammad Naeem sought time to present evidence before the designated authority Regulated Area and SDM Vandana Mishra. A three-storey house of the MP is being built in Mohalla Deepa Sarai, it is alleged that the house is being built without a map. The designated authority gave him the first notice on 5 December and asked him to show the map within seven days. Now the SP MP has been given time till 10 February.
