New Delhi. India Canada Relations: Relations between India and Canada have become quite bitter. Meanwhile, the Indian government has released a list of fugitive terrorists. This list includes the name and photo of an officer of the Canadian Border Service Agency. India has handed over this list to the Trudeau government.
According to the information, Sandeep Singh Sidhu is a member of the banned International Sikh Youth Federation (ISYF) and is working for CBSA. Sidhu is accused of promoting terrorist activities in Punjab.
According to the government, Sandeep Singh Sidhu was in contact with terrorist Lakhbir Singh Rode based in Pakistan to carry out the murder of Balwinder Singh Sidhu.
Balwinder Sidhu was fighting against terrorists
Balwinder Singh Sidhu played an important role in fighting against terrorism in Punjab in the 1990s. Balwinder Singh Sidhu was awarded the Shaurya Chakra for fighting against terrorism. He was murdered in his house in October 2020.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has claimed that Sukhmeet Pal Singh alias Sunny Toronto and Lakhvir Singh alias Rode were involved in the conspiracy to murder Balwinder Singh Sandhu. After this murder, Sandeep Singh Sidhu has also been promoted to the post of Superintendent in CBSA.
Relations between the two countries deteriorated after the killing of terrorist Nijjar
Canada has been continuously alleging that Indian government officials were involved in the murder of terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. India has termed Canada's claim as baseless. However, Trudeau is adamant on his statement, due to which the relations between the two countries have deteriorated a lot.
When was Nijjar murdered?
Nijjar was shot dead as he left a gurdwara in Surrey, British Columbia, on the evening of June 18, 2023. He was designated a terrorist by the National Investigation Agency in 2020.
In September last year, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had accused India of involvement in the killing of Nijjar on Canadian soil. However, India had rejected the allegations as absurd and motivated.
