When can we do tarpan
It is not considered auspicious to offer tarpan to ancestors during a solar eclipse. On March 29, i.e. Chaitra Amavasya, the duration of the solar eclipse will be from 02:20 pm to 06:16 pm. In such a situation, you can offer tarpan before that.
Tarpan method
On the day of Shani Amavasya, wake up early in the morning and take a bath. After this, take water in a pot and add some black sesame seeds and flowers in it. Now take some kusha in your hand and meditate on your ancestors.
During this time, keep your face towards the south and slowly offer water to the ancestors using your thumb. Also, pray for the peace of the souls of the ancestors. You can also recite mantras and Pitru Chalisa on this day. Along with this, ancestors are also pleased by doing charity on this day.
Mantras of Tarpan
You can chant these mantras while remembering your ancestors during Tarpan. By performing Tarpan and chanting mantras in the right manner, you can get special blessings from your ancestors.

- Namah Swahaayai Swadhaayai Nityameva Namo Namah.
- Om Pitriganaya Vidmahe Jagat Dharini Dhimahi Tanno Pitro Prachodayat.
- Om Adya-bhutaya vidmahe sarva-sevaya dhimahi. Shiva-Shakti-Swaroopen Pitru-Dev Prachodayat.
