The number 112, through which help is sought from the police, was used by four policemen and a home guard of Meerut for extortion. The accused have committed many incidents of extortion through fake calls.
However, the police got caught in the same trap that they used to use for extortion through the number 112. These accused had formed a syndicate to run the illegal extortion racket. When Meerut SSP Dr. Vipin Tada got the matter investigated, a shocking case came to light. The SSP has suspended the five accused policemen and registered a case against them.
The accused used to create fake events.
Head constable Yashpal Singh, Pramod Kumar, Jitendra Kumar and driver Rajan posted on PRV of Parikshitgarh police station in rural area of Meerut used to keep home guard Sushil Kumar with them. All the four policemen were posted in PRV in Bulandshahr and were recently transferred to Meerut.
To carry out this crime, all the four accused policemen had taken fake cards. To extort money from a village, they used to make a call to 112 using a fake SIM card. After this, an order to go to the spot was given from Lucknow. After reaching the spot, they used to arrest the accused in cases of gambling, illegal liquor, quarrel or other fights.
During this time, when the accused policemen reached outside the village, they would bargain with the accused and extort money from him and then release him. After this, they would inform on 112 that they had gone to the spot and the situation was normal there. These five had been running a syndicate of extortion for who knows how long.
The accused got trapped in his own trap
. The incident is of 23rd October. Information was received on 112 number that illegal liquor was being sold in the village. Orders were received from Lucknow to immediately go to the spot. After this, Head Constable Yashpal Singh, Pramod Kumar, Jitendra Kumar and driver Rajan reached the spot along with Home Guard Sushil Kumar.
When a call was made to that number from Lucknow for feedback, the number was found switched off. The same was happening in most of the information received in Parikshitgarh too. The number for giving information was found switched off. Meerut SSP Dr Vipin Tada received a complaint about this. Seeing the seriousness of the matter, the SSP handed over the investigation to SP Traffic.
The entire case was exposed in the investigation of SP Traffic. The home guard along with four policemen were extorting money. In this case, fake events were created through the accused policemen and then the game of extortion was played.
How did the officers get suspicious?
Investigation revealed that the mobile number from which the calls were coming was on the SIM card of a person living in Bulandshahr. The mobile phone from which the fake information was being given has also been recovered from the PRV. Investigation revealed that despite the duty being over, these policemen used to go to the spot themselves to create fake events and collect money.
When the CDR of these policemen was investigated, the truth was revealed. The location of the thieves was found at one place and that too after the duty was over. Many times the 112 PRV used to stay at the crime scene for several hours. After this, the doubts started getting deeper that when the situation is normal, then why is the PRV standing at the same location for several hours.
