We all have been hearing since childhood that the average human body temperature is 36.6 degrees Celsius. This is information that is taught to us in schools and which we all believe in, but a recent study has challenged this belief. A research by Stanford University has found that the average human body temperature is no longer 36.6 degrees Celsius. Let us know about it in detail.

Decreasing average body temperature

In this study, oral temperature of 6,18,306 patients was measured at Stanford Health Care between 2008 and 2017. Along with this, information like age, gender, weight, height, BMI, drug intake and health status of these patients was also collected.

Researchers believe that the main reason for the decrease in our average body temperature is the change in our body's metabolic rate. In the last 200 years, due to better health facilities, cleanliness, good food and improvement in living conditions, inflammation in our body has decreased, due to which our temperature has also decreased.

our bodies are changing

Dr. Parsonnet has also explained the changes taking place in our body. He said that the way we live and the environment around us, both these factors are changing our body.

He said that the temperature of houses is now controlled, we come in less contact with microorganisms than before and we get a better and nutritious diet. Dr. Parsonnet says that we think that humans have always remained the same, but this is not true. We are changing physically.

Why is the temperature changing?

Dr. Parsonnet says that we should stop believing that the normal body temperature of every person is 36.6 degrees Celsius. In fact, the normal temperature of every person is different and it depends on many things.

This new study shows that due to better lifestyle and health services, there have been some changes in our body. According to this research, our body is no longer the same as before. This research from Stanford not only increases our understanding about our body, but also shows how we humans are changing over time.
