
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Thursday told Energy Minister Manohar Lal Khattar that he should not recite poetry during Question Hour in the House. He interrupted Khattar during Question Hour when the Energy Minister read a poem targeting the Congress while answering a supplementary question.
He was answering a supplementary question from Congress Lok Sabha member Harish Meena. To this, Birla said, "Minister, there is no poetry during Question Hour."
Opposition members raise slogans in Lok Sabha over 'attack on priests'
Meanwhile, members of Congress and some other opposition parties raised slogans in the Lok Sabha on Thursday and walked out of the House in protest against the alleged attack on Catholic priests in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. Immediately after the proceedings of the House began, opposition members tried to raise the issue and some members reached near the chair raising slogans. They demanded a discussion on the issue. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla did not allow the issue to be raised and started the Question Hour. After this, opposition members walked out of the House.
Congress members also raised slogans in the Parliament premises on this issue. Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal claimed that Vishwa Hindu Parishad people attacked two Christian priests on Tuesday. He said, "This is another example of the way minorities are being attacked. Sangh Parivar people are attacking churches. The government is not taking any action."
