Delhi Workers Minimum Wage: Delhi's new CM Atishi has given a big gift to the workers working in the National Capital Region by increasing the minimum wage. The new rates announced by the AAP government will be applicable in Delhi from October 1. Announcing the increase in the minimum wage on September 25, CM Atishi said that the minimum wage for unskilled workers in Delhi will be Rs 18,066 per month, semi-skilled workers will be Rs 19,929 and skilled workers will be Rs 21,917.
He said that with this increase, the minimum wages of workers in Delhi have become double as compared to BJP ruled states. The minimum wages given to workers in Delhi are the highest as compared to any other state in the country.
'Giving everyone a respectable life is the first priority'
Delhi Chief Minister Atishi said that in 10 years, the Delhi government under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal has given a respectable life to the common people of Delhi. This is our first priority. We will continue to work in the same way in the coming four months. For the last 10 years, the Aam Aadmi Party government of Delhi has run the government to give a better life to the common people of Delhi. Whether it is 24-hour electricity, the cheapest electricity in the country, excellent government schools, free tests and medicines in mohalla clinics, providing free treatment by building world-class hospitals, providing free pilgrimage to the elderly or free bus travel to women.
Apart from this, the Delhi government has done a historic work which has not been done anywhere in the country till now. That work is the highest minimum wage in Delhi. CM Atishi said that the people who get the minimum wage come from the poor section and are laborers. To stop their exploitation, the Delhi government has worked to take the minimum wage to a historic level.
'BJP is an anti-poor party'
BJP has always done anti-poor work. When Arvind Kejriwal's government in Delhi talked about increasing the minimum wage in 2016-17, BJP stopped it through its LG. At that time, Arvind Kejriwal's government brought an order from the court and started increasing the minimum wage and included a provision that just like the salary of government officers increases twice a year due to DA, in the same way it is necessary to increase the minimum wage twice a year.
'Delhi has the highest minimum wage'
Calling BJP anti-poor, he said that it pays very low minimum wages to workers in its states. It also tried to stop the decision to increase the minimum wage of workers in Delhi. The Delhi government has once again decided to increase the minimum wage. He said that before the Arvind Kejriwal government came to power in 2013, the minimum wage of unskilled workers in Delhi was only Rs 7,722, semi-skilled workers Rs 8,528 and skilled workers Rs 9,388.
Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, while sharing the data of minimum wages in BJP-ruled states, said that the minimum wage for unskilled workers in Delhi is more than Rs 18,000, while the minimum wage for unskilled workers in Rajasthan is only Rs 8,063, Rs 10,000 in Madhya Pradesh, Rs 8,300 in Uttar Pradesh, Rs 10,000 in Haryana and Rs 10,900 in Chhattisgarh.
