Bengaluru: A tragic incident has come to light from Karnataka's capital Bengaluru. A 20-year-old student, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, crushed a 30-year-old woman with a Mercedes-Benz. The incident took place near Bengaluru's Kengeri Traffic Transit Management Center on Saturday evening. Police have given information about this incident.
The deceased has been identified as Sandhya A S, a resident of Basaveshwara Nagar. She was crossing the road when the driver, identified as Dhanush Paramesh, lost control of the vehicle. Paramesh is a resident of Nagarbhavi and the son of a local businessman Paramesh, who runs a travel agency in Bengaluru.
The amount of alcohol found in the accused's blood
Giving details of the incident, the police officer further said, "The alcometer test of the accused driver revealed that his blood alcohol content was 177 mg/100 ml, which was far above the legally permissible limit of 30 mg/100 ml."
Dhanush, who was reportedly driving at a high speed, lost control of the vehicle as he approached the Kengeri centre and hit the speed breaker. According to eyewitnesses, he hit Sandhya but did not stop. People present at the scene detained Dhanush and he was later taken into custody by the police.

The Kengeri Traffic Police then arrested him and put him in judicial custody. He has been charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder under Section 105 of the Indian Penal Code (BNS).
